Why is Play important?
Young children learn best through self-directed play. Children, like all mammals, are biologically wired to play. Through play they explore their environments, develop their physical capabilities, imitate grown-up activities, practice social relationships, and solve problems creatively. Children are naturally curious and it is important that they explore their interests unhindered by adult expectations and micromanagement.Our job is not to direct activities for the children, but rather to create an invitation to play. Our approach inspires wonder, encourages experimentation, and challenges children to think creatively all while having fun!
Our Play Environment
Boscoe's Backyard is located in, you guessed it, our backyard! Our home is nestled into a quiet subdivision dead end cul-de-sac on a spacious one acre semi-wooded property. The main play area sits directly beneath the shade of a huge, unique pine tree. Our yard is also dotted with vegetable gardens, flower gardens, and native landscaping.We see our play-space as the child's "third teacher" and take great consideration into how it influences their learning. Our space is designed for interaction and exploration. Kid's Day OutOur "Kid's Day Out" drop-off program is ideal for ages 2-10. There are options for 1, 2, 3, or 4 days a week. Daily drop-ins are welcomed when available!
